Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port has embarked on a large-scale infrastructure project to modernize deepwater Berth No10, the port said in a statement.
For the time being, engineering survey for the project has been completed and submitted for approval to the Rosmorport federal agency responsible for federal port property. The next stage will be developing design and estimate documentation.
The project envisages dismantling part of the existing berth shells and installing the new pier, concreting its surface, laying utlity networks and sewage treatment system.
According to Dmitry Chernyavsky, Director, investment projects, with Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port, the modernized berth will be capable of accommodating two vessels at a time at the deepwater berths.
The port operates 15 cargo berths and one auxiliary berth with a depth of 8.5 m to 11 m. The port facilities allow of handling up to 15 ships at a time.
