FESCO Transport Group has launched a new intermodal service from Japan to Uzbekistan via the territory of China and Kazakhstan, the group said in a statement.
Cargo is shipped from Yokohama to Lianyungang by sea and then carried by Trans China Railway that links Shina with Kazakhstan. At the Khorgos – Altynkol border crossing checkpoint, containers are loaded onto 1520 rail gauge rolling stock and carried to the station of destination at Chukursai in Tashkent.
The service frequency is fortnightly. The main commodity to be carried by the service will be car parts from Japan.
The first shipment consisting of 18 40’ units has arrived at a Kazakhstan-China terminal in Lianyungang to be loaded on board a train, which is scheduled to depart on September 30.
