The terminals constituting Phase 1 of the Lotos Special Economic Zone in Astrakhan region in South Russia are to be put into operation by the end of 2023, the Astrakhan Governor’s press office has reported.
According to Sergey Milushkin, CEO of Lotos SEZ, in October this year the first grain shipment designated for Iran is to be loaded from Astrakhan region.
At present, a territory covering 40 hectares is being developed. By September, it is to be ready for building infrastructure, and the anchor resident of the SEZ, Kaspiy Port Logistics Company, is to start berth arrangement works in cooperation with its Iranian partners, Milushkin said.
He added that terminals to handle containers, gran and vegetable oil are to be built on the territory of the Special Economic Zone.
The first test shipment of grain is to be made in October, and by the end pf 2023 the first containers are expected to be handled.
