Noilsk Nickel has announced it has sold the 100% of its Nordstar Airlines to the carrier’s management. The deal was closed on March 25, Norilsk Nickel said in a statement.
The new owners of Nordstar Airlines is the acting top management of the company that have been running the asset for a long time, including Leonid Mokhov, Managing Director of Nordstar. He will continue as MD under he new ownership.
‘Under the current circumstances, Norilsk Nickel is concentrating on its core business, which is mining, processing and selling non-ferrous and precious metals,’ Sergey Dubovitsky, Senior VP of Norilsk Nickel, explained.
‘However, it is important for us to maintain reliable air connection with Norilsk industrial area, where our core production assets are located. So the main condition of the deal to sell our airline subsidiary was providing reliable air connection with Norilsk,’ he added.
According to Leonid Mokhov, Nordstar intends to expand its network remaining the key air carrier in the airport of Norilsk.
