Copper Export Surges in January 2022

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, during January 2022 Russia exported 173.3 thousand tons of unwrought aluminum, down 33.3% year-on-year and down 58.1% month-on-month. In terms of value, unwrought aluminum export increased by 3.2% year-on-year and dropped by 60.6% month-on-month to make $405.9 mn.

    Refined copper and unwrought copper alloys export made 116.9 thousand tons, up 3.3-fold year-on-year and up 5.2-fold month-on-month. In terms of value, unwrought aluminum export surged 4.3-fold year-on-year and was up 5.1-fold month-on-month to make $1.1 bn.

    Unwrought nickel export in January 2022 made 50.2 thousand tons, up 157.3-fold month-on-month worth $971.6 thousand, up 151.8-fold month-on-month. In January 2021, Russia did not export this commodity.
