Container operator RZD Business Asset Ltd. has signed an agreement with Abkhazian Railways thus entering the market of Abkhazia. The parties intend to launch a block train between Sukhum and Moscow region, the first ever in the history of Abkhazia.
Even in the Soviet era, there was no railway container traffic in Abkhazia. The test train is expected to run in mid-March this year. In Abkhazia, it will be handled at the freight yard of the Sukhum rail station.
