The RF Government is to grant some 2 bn rubles ($26.7 mn) to modernize five research vessels in 2022 in the framework of the Science and Universities national project.
The vessels to undergo modernization are “Nikolay Strakhov”, “Akademik Sergey Vavilov”, “Akademik Lavrentiev”, “Akademik Mstislav Keldysh” and “Akademik Ioffe”.
The modernization of the “Nikolay Strakhov” is to be completed this year. The “Akademik Sergey Vavilov” and the “Akademik Lavrentiev” are due for docking to undergo general repair and have equipment installed.
The modernization of the “Akademik Mstislav Keldysh” and the “Akademik Ioffe” is to start this year, the completion is scheduled for 2024.
At present, two new research vessels are under construction at Zvezda Yard, namely, the “Professor Anatoly Yelizarov” and the “Professor Pyotr Moiseev”. The construction started in autumn 2021, the launch is scheduled for 2024.
