According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total cargo throughput of the Russian sea ports in January 2022 increased by 9.4% year-on-year.
Cabotage grew by 2.1%, export by 6.8%, and transit was up 28.6%. Import grew by 39.8%.
More than 50% in the Russian sea ports’ commodity structure was oil and products. In January, crude oil accounted for 31.5% of the total volume and oil products for 18.8%. Coal and coke constituted 20.5% of the total.
It should be noted that the highest growth was in sugar segment (+89.7%), ore (+58.8%) and ferry cargo (+51.4%).
The commodities that decreased the most were metal scrap (-83.4%), grain (-37.1%) and other bulk (grab) (-32.1%).
The Baltic basin accounted for 31.8% of the aggregate cargo throughput via the Russian sea ports in January. The Azov and Black Sea basin handled 29.5%, the Far Eastern basin accounted for 25.8%, the Arctic basin for 12.2% and the Caspian basin for 0.7% of the total.
