The total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports during 2021 amounted to over 5.6 mn TEU. Five terminals handled 3.06 mn TEU or 54.4% of this volume.
According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the leader in terms of container throughput in 2021 was Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP). Its container traffic increased by 12.6% year-on-year up to 757.3 thousand TEU.
First Container Terminal rated the second in 2021. It handled 627.9 thousand TEU, down 3.8% year-on-year.
Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg decreased its container traffic by 7.6% down to 609.3 thousand TEU.
Container traffic via NUTEP amounted to 545.6 thousand TEU, up 12.1% year-on-year.
Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company handled 519.7 thousand TEU, up 14.8% year-on-year.
It should be noted that the highest container throughput growth was via Vladivostok Sea Terminal. Its container traffic surged 8.5-fold. This stevedore did not handle containers in January-August 2020. Vostokmorservice was up 6.6-fold. Dalzavod-Terminal in Vladivostok saw its container traffic surge 5.3-fold. In 2020 the terminal handled containers in July and November only.
The largest decrease in container traffic was in Anroskrym in Port Kavkaz (-64.3%), Portovik in Nevelsk (-62.6%) and Directorate for Construction under the Presidential Administrative Department in the Far Eastern Federal District in Vladivostok (-60.7%).
