Грузооборот Сайменского канала, 11 месяцев 2021: объем перевозок удобрений вырос более чем на треть

5% More Cargo Carried via Saimaa Canal in January-November 2021

  • According to the Statistics Finland, freight traffic by the Saimaa Canal amounted to 1.23 mn tons during January-November 2021, up 4.7% year-on-year.

    1,046 cargo vessels transited the Canal during the period under report, up 2.8% year-on-year. 592 of them, or 56.6% of the total were flying the Russian flag, down 0.7% year-on-year.

    The main commodity transported was timber and logs, which grew by 5% up to 522.9 thousand tons. Sawn goods were up 61% to 69 thousand tons.

    Fertilizers increased by 34.4% up to 184.9 thousand tons, coal by 35.1% up to 28.1 thousand tons, and metal surged 7.3-fold up to 15.2 thousand tons.

    Construction cargo declined by 10%, paper by 20.7%, and pulp by 27.3%.
