NCSP Back on Growth Track in January-October 2021

  • The consolidated throughput of the stevedoring companies incorporated in Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group made 95.5 mn tons during January-October 2021 increasing by 2.9% year-on-year.

    In October, cargo traffic via NCSP grew by 26.2% year-on-year and by 21.4% month-on-month.

    Liquid bulk, which accounts for 79.8% of the aggregate throughput of the Group, was up 3.2% year-on-year to 76.1 mn tons during January-October 2021.

    Crude oil increased by 1% up to 46.3 mn tons during the 10 months of 2021. In October, the Group’s terminals handled 5.5 mn tons of crude, up 28.3% year-on-year and up 22.2% month-on-month.

    Oil products throughput grew by 7.4% up to 28.9 mn tons during January-October 2021.

    Solid bulk handling increased by 2.9% year-on-year up to more than 5.9 mn tons. Sugar handling surged 11.5-fold to make 680.1 thousand tons reflecting the growth in demand in FSU Central Asian countries. Coal grew by 2.9% up to 1 mn tons, and chemicals by 65.4% up to 1.1 mn tons.

    All the other commodities in this segment declined with ferrous ore down 21.7% to 3.2 mn tons, and other solid bulk down 46.7% to 24.2 thousand tons.

    General cargo increased by 0.6% year-on-year to exceed 9.2 mn tons. Ferrous metals and cast iron were up 0.9% to 8.1 mn tons.

    Non-ferrous metals decreased by 11.9% down to 728.5 thousand tons, timber and logs by 17.1% down to 131.6 thousand tons in January-October 2021. Perishables grew by 78.7% up to 226.8 thousand tons.

    Container traffic grew mostly due to higher volumes handled by Baltic Stevedore Company in Baltiysk in Kaliningrad region.
