In the Baltic region, freight rates are increasing due to an acute shortage of spot tonnage. Most shipowners now prefer to keep their fleet on the Continent. Cargoes to St. Petersburg are not that interesting due to bad weather conditions, Sea Lines shipbrokers report.
On week 42, freight rates for 3,000-5,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga to Riga made €30 pmt and those to Gdansk were €31 pmt.
Freight rates from Ust-Luga made €33 pmt to Szczecin, €37 to Flensburg, and €45 to Hamburg.
Rates from Ust-Luga were €47 pmt to ARAG, €52 pmt to East Britain, €55 pmt to West Britain, and €56 pmt to Dublin.
