Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in August Up 4.9%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in August 2021 increased by 4.9% year-on-year.

    Export grew by 28.6%, import by 30.5%, and transit surged by 56.5%. Cabotage, on the contrary, declined by 32.1%.

    The share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in August 2021 amounted to 41.2%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 10.7% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 7.5% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 92.5%. Imports made 50.5% of all the laden containers, exports 24%, cabotage 21.2% and transit 4.3%.

    Empty container traffic was down 10.5%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 59.3% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in August. Vostochny handled 26.7%, and Korsakov 5.1% of the total.
