Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Grows in June

  • The consolidated throughput of the stevedoring companies incorporated in Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group made 58.4 mn tons during January-June 2021 declining by 6.9%.

    In June, cargo traffic via NCSP grew by 31.2% year-on-year and by 7.8% month-on-month.

    Liquid bulk, which accounts for 79% of the aggregate throughput of the Group, decreased by 9.2% year-on-year down to 46.2 mn tons in H1 2021.

    Crude oil declined 13.9% down to 27.2 mn tons. In June, crude oil traffic was up to 2.5 mn tons compared to 1.8 mn tons in May 2021.

    Oil products traffic decreased by 1.3% down to 18.4 mn tons.

    Other liquid cargoes also declined in January-June this year.

    Solid bulk increased by 1.2% year-on-year up to 3.6 mn tons. Sugar handling surged 87.5-fold to make 401.4 thousand tons. Coal grew by 9.6% up to 665.3 thousand tons, and chemicals by 47.1% up to 625.6 thousand tons.

    All the other commodities in this segment declined with ferrous ore down 23.8% to 1.9 mn tons, and other solid bulk down 45.9% to 21 thousand tons.

    General cargo increased by 2.7% year-on-year to exceed 5.9 mn tons driven by ferrous metals and cast iron, which grew by 2.9% to 5.3 mn tons supported by the rising demand and high prices in the global market.

    Non-ferrous metals decreased by 7.2% down to 476.6 thousand tons, timber and logs by 16.3% down to 52.7 thousand tons. Perishables grew by 55.5% up to 159.1 thousand tons.

    Container traffic grew mostly due to higher volumes handled by Baltic Stevedore Company in Baltiysk in Kaliningrad region.
