Грузооборот Сайменского канала, 6 месяцев 2021: объем перевозок химических грузов, бумаги и целлюлозы сократился

Freight Traffic in Saimaa Canal Up 17% YoY

  • Freight traffic via the Saimaa Canal grew by 16,9% year-on-year during January-June 2021 making 463.9 thousand tons.

    According to the Statistics Finland, 389 vessel transited the Canal during the period under report, up 14.7% year-on-year. 194 of them, down 1% year-on-year, were flying the Russian flag.

    The main commodity transported was timber and logs, which grew by 24.3% up to 211.5 thousand tons. Sawn goods were up 3.6-fold to 35.5 thousand tons.

    Construction cargo increased by 5.1% up to 105.3 thousand tons, fertilizers by 6.8% up to 37.1 thousand tons, and coal by 473% up to 6.8 thousand tons.

    Paper transportation declined by 6.4%, pulp by 35.9%, and chemicals by 8.5%.
