According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-May 2021 Russia exported 17.2 mn tons of ferrous metals, down 6.7% year-on-year. In terms of value, ferrous metals export grew by 44.9% up to $9.5 bn.
Intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export was down 4.4% year-on-year to 6.1 mn tons. In terms of value, it increased by 27.3% up to $3 bn.
Iron and unalloyed steel flat section export in January-May 2021 grew by 10.1% year-on-year up to more than 3.3 mn tons worth $2.3 bn, up 62.9%.
Cast iron export during the first 5 months 2021 increased by 24.3% year-on-year up to 1.3 mn tons worth over $549.6 mn, up 64.9%.
Ferroalloys export in January-May 2021 grew by 4.3% year-on-year up to 322.6 thousand tons worth $461.3 mn (+16.1%).
In May 2021, according to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, ferrous metals export was down 21.1% year-on-year and down 27.6% month-on-month to 3 mn tons. In terms of value, it grew by 39.1% year-on-year, but declined by 16.1% month-on-month to make $1.9 bn.
Intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export in May 2021 was down 26.4% year-on-year and down 32.3% month-on-month making 1.1 tons. In terms of value, it increased by 23.1% year-on-year and declined by 25.1% month-on-month to $605.8 mn.
Iron and unalloyed steel flat section export in May 2021 was down 32.9% year-on-year and down 6.7% month-on-month making 605.8 thousand tons worth $535.1 mn (up 37.5% year-on-year and up 12.9% month-on-month).
Cast iron export in May 2021 made 198.8 thousand tons, up 15.9% year-on-year and down 35.1% month-on-month. In terms of value, it amounted to $96.6 mn, up 82.9% year-on-year and down 28.9% month-on-month.
Ferroalloy export in May 2021 was up 18.4% year-on-year and down 25.2% month-on-month to 63 thousand tons. In terms of value, it grew by 54.9% year-on-year and declined by 28.9% month-on-month to make $97.6 mn.
