On June 25, freight trains started running via the bridge over the Areda River on the TransSiberian Railway in the Transbaikal region in a test mode. Train movement was suspended after a pylon of the bridge was damaged by a flood on July 23.
Socially important cargo was transported by the Baikal-Amur Railway while the bridge was under repair. Now that traffic on one track is resumed freight trains that were delayed will continue to their destinations.
Russian Railways continue repairing the infrastructure.
