The first contrailer platform has been loaded and dispatched from the station of Shushary in St. Petersburg. According to Oktyabrskaya Railway, a branch of Russian Railways, the platform designed by Russian specialists will carry a trailer equipped with an autonomous climate control unit and laden with perishables.
The platform was included into a cargo train operating under Russian Railways’ Freight Express service, which is to deliver it to the station of Kleschikha in Novosibirsk in just four days. According to Oktyabrskaya Railway, this is 4-5 days faster than trucking by road.
Oktyabrskaya Railway said it intends to develop contrailer transportation in cooperation with interested customers.
