TOP-5 Russian Container Terminals in January-May 2021

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-May 2021 amounted to more than 2.3 mn TEU. Five terminals handled 1.3 mn TEU or 55.3% of this volume.

    In January-May 2021 Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) is the leader in terms of container throughput. Its container traffic increased by 18.3% year-on-year up to 304 thousand TEU.

    First Container Terminal rates the second in January-May 2021. It handled 265.3 thousand TEU, down 3% year-on-year.

    Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg decreased its container traffic by 15.1% down to 253 thousand TEU.

    Container traffic via NUTEP amounted to 250.9 thousand TEU, up 16.4% year-on-year.

    Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company handled 202.8 thousand TEU, up 14.5% year-on-year.

    It should be noted that the highest container throughput growth was via Prostor DV in Sovgavan in the Russian Far East. Its container traffic surged 2.9-fold. Baltic Stevedore Company in Kaliningrad was up 76.1%, Arctic Consulting Service in Arkhangelsk up 74.5%.

    The largest decrease in container traffic was in YuzhnoKurilsk Docker in Nevelsk (-75.8%), and Anroskrym in Port Kavkaz (-75.1%) and Olya Commercial Sea Port (-48.2%).
