During January-April 2021, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was down 2.4% year-on-year to 2.29 bn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, down 4.7% year-on-year to 1.46 bn tons.
Rail freight grew by 1.8% year-on-year up to 415.2 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was up 3% year-on-year to 393.2 mn tons.
Sea freight decreased by 2.4% year-on-year down to 6.7 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume declined by 12.8% year-on-year down to 10.3 mn tons.
Air transport carried 0.44 mn tons, up 31.8% year-on-year.
In April, cargo transportation volume carried by almost all of the transport modes declined month-on-month, the only exceptions being maritime and inland shipping segments.
