Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in April Up 8.7%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in April 2021 increased by 8.7% year-on-year. Cabotage grew by 2.4%, import was up 26.4%, and transit up 94%. Export, on the contrary, declined by 10.7%.

    The share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in April 2021 amounted to 36.5%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 16% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 6.8% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 93.2%. Imports made 45.8% of all the laden containers, cabotage 24.5%, exports 21.5% and transit 8.2%.

    Empty container traffic was down 9.1%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 60.8% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in April. Vostochny handled 22.4%, and Korsakov 6.5% of the total.
