During January-April 2021, Russian Railways loaded 414. mn tons of cargo, up 1.8% year-on-year.
Coal loading increased by 7.3% up to 123.3 mn tons. Oil and products, Russian Railways’ second most important cargo in terms of volume, declined by 4.7% down to 72.2 mn tons. Ferrous and manganese ore decreased by 1.1% down to 38.9 mn tons.
Ferrous metals were down 2.5% to 22.9 mn tons, soda and chemicals down 3.8% to 8.1 mn tons, and construction cargo down 6.4% to 37 mn tons.
Other commodity types grew.
Chemical and mineral fertilizers up 6% to 21.8 mn tons, industrial and forming materials loading up 6.2% up to 10.5 mn tons, ferrous metal scrap up 22.9% to 4.7 mn tons, timber and logs up 1.8% to 14.3 mn tons, non-ferrous ore and raw suphfur up 1.2% to 9.3 mn tons/
Grain loading volumes grew by 15.1% up to 9.3 mn tons, and cement by 5.3% to 6.8 mn tons.
Rail cargo throughput during January-April 2021 made 860.1 bn tons per km, up 3.6% year-on-year.
In April, Russian Railways loaded 107.8 mn tons of cargo, up 6.9% year-on-year and down 1.6% month-on-month.
Cargo throughput in April amounted to 225.2 bn tons per km, up 8% year-on-year.
