However, the majority of ship owners prefer to avoid grain shipments to Tunisia due to low vessel handling rates, long waiting times on road and in the port, as well as additional costs and congestions, Sea Lines shipbrokers report. So, the approximate rate of ship owners for 25 thousand tons of barley from Novorossiysk to Tunisia will range from $37 to $40 pmt.
Speaking of grain cargo, there have been positive forecasts and news regarding the export of grain crops to China over the past few weeks. The country has long-term plans to increase imports of grain, corn and barley from Russia.
On week 13, freight rates for 40,000-50,000 dwt bulkers from Novorossiysk declined slightly.
According to Sea Lines shipbrokers, freight rates from Novorossiysk made $21 pmt to East Med and $24 pmt to West Med.
Freight rates from Novorossiysk to Casablanca were $31 pmt, freight rates to India amounted to $49 pmt.
Freight rates from Novorossiysk to China made $51 pmt.
