Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in February Up 7.4%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in February 2021 increased by 7.4% year-on-year.

    Export grew by 1.9%, import surged by 67.4%. Cabotage was down 20.9%, and transit down 25.8%.

    The share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in February 2021 amounted to 33.2%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 21.2% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 7.9% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 92.1%.

    Imports made 47.9% of all the laden containers, exports 24%, cabotage 22,2% and transit 5.9%.

    Empty container traffic was down 22.8%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 60.9% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in February. Vostochny handled 26%, and Korsakov 5.4% of the total.
