Alexander Poshivay has been appointed deputy minister of transport of the Russian Federation. Until now, he was head of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport, the position he occupied since March 2020.
A.Poshivay was born in Leningrad and after graduating from the Admiral Makarov Maritime School (now, Academy) started his career with Baltic Shipping Company.
He has an extensive experience in shipping, cruise and touristic business, fisheries, and in the public service.
He started with the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot), an agency subordinated to the RF Transport Ministry, in 2011 as deputy head of a department, to be promoted to department director, deputy head, acting head, and, finally, head of the Agency.
