Container Traffic via Baltic Basin Ports Down 1.2% in November 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Russian Baltic basin ports in November 2020 decreased by 1.2% year-on-year. Import was down 6.8%, export down 16.9%. Transit made 22.2 thousand TEU, with Kaliningrad handling the entire volume.

    The share of the Baltic basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in November 2020 amounted to 45.9%.

    Laden container throughput grew by 0.4% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 12.6% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 87.4%. Transit made 12.3% of all the laden containers, exports 37.4%, and imports 50.3%.

    Empty container traffic was down 9.8%.

    The Big Port of St. Petersburg accounted for 84.8% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Baltic basin sea ports in November. Kaliningrad handled 13.8%, and Ust-Luga 1.4% of the total.
