Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in July Up 5%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in July 2020 increased by 5% year-on-year. Export grew by 2.5%, import was up 4.8%, and cabotage up 13.9%. Transit, on the contrary, dropped by 47.6%.

    The share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in July 2020 amounted to 40.7%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 6.5% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 8.1% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 91.9%.

    Imports made 45.7% of all the laden containers, cabotage 30.8%, exports 20.2% and transit 3.3%.

    Empty container traffic was up 1.5%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 56.9% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in June. Vostochny handled 23%, and Korsakov 8.4% of the total.
