Russian Crude Export in January-June 2020

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, Russia’s crude oil export in January-June 2020 was down 0.6% year-on-year to 125.1 mn tons. In terms of value, crude oil export dropped by 33.5% year-on-year making $38.9 bn.

    Oil products export increased by 4.7% up to 74.6 mn tons. In terms of value, it was down 26.1% to $25.3 bn.

    Diesel fuel export made 27.6 mn tons in terms of tonnage (+5.1% year-on-year) and $11.1 bn in terms of value (-24.8%).

    Petrol export in January-June 2020 grew by 44.9% year-on-year up to 3.7 mn tons worth about $1.5 bn, up 5.8%.

    In June, Russia exported 20.3 mn tons of crude, up 6.9% year-on-year and up 5.2% month-on-month. In terms of value, crude oil export dropped by 43% year-on-year and surged by 44.3% month-on-month to make $5.2 bn.

    Oil products export in June increased by 36.9% year-on-year and by 19.1% month-on-month to make 14.4 mn tons worth $3.1 bn (down 41.1% year-on-year and up 16.2% month-on-month).

    Diesel fuel export made 4.6 mn tons (up 20.5% year-on-year and down 3.5% month-on-month) worth $1.2 bn (down 45.6% year-on-year and down 6.7% month-on-month).

    Car petrol export in June grew by 24.5% year-on-year and decreased by 2.3% month-on-month making 691.1 thousand tons worth $200.6 mn, down 36.7% year-on-year and up 5.2% month-on-month.

    Natural gas export in January-June 2020 amounted to 91.1 bn cbm, down 15.9% year-on-year. In terms of value, it also declined, by 50.2% down to some $11.3 bn.

    Liquefied natural gas export during January-June 2020 increased by 11.9% year-on-year up to 32.9 mn cbm, its value was down 12.6% to $3.9 bn.

    In June, natural gas export made 13.6 bn cbm, down 7.4% year-on-year and up 15.9% month-on-month. Value-wise, it was worth $1.13 bn, down 55.8% year-on-year and up 0.7% month-on-month.

    LNG export in June amounted to 5.3 mn cbm growing by 29.3% year-on-year and declining by 28.4% month-on-month. In terms of value, LNG export increased by 19.2% year-on-year and decreased by 42% month-on-month making $559.8 mn.
