In January-July 2020, the sea ports of Ukraine handled 605.1 thousand TEU, up 10.9% year-on-year.
By way of comparison, Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk during January-July 2020 handled 458 thousand TEU growing by 0.6%.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 282.1 thousand TEU, up 8.8% year-on-year.
Import increased by 10.4% up to 293.4 thousand TEU. Transit container traffic via the major Ukrainian ports grew by 41.5% up to 29.6 thousand TEU. Cabotage was non-existent.
Odessa handled 372.4 thousand TEU in January-July, up 3.3% year-on-year.
Container traffic via Pivdenniy (formerly, Yuzhny) increased by 26.5% to make 144.9 thousand TEU.
Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 87.5 thousand TEU, up 23.6% year-on-year.
Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) handled 288 TEU, up 3.5-fold year-on-year.
