Grain Export and Import in Н1 2020: Wheat Export Down in June

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-June Russia exported 12.4 mn tons of wheat and meslin, up 17.3% year-on-year. In terms of value, grain export increased by 13.9% up to more than $2.7 bn.

    Wheat import into Russia during January-June 2020 declined by 39% down to 60.3 thousand tons. Corn import, on the contrary, grew by 55.9% up to 41 thousand tons. Barley import made 11.1 thousand tons surging 2.6-fold year-on-year.

    In terms of value, wheat import was down 17.6% to $19.2 mn. Corn import was up 19.5% to $110.9 mn, barley import surged by 50% up to $2.4 mn.

    In June 2020, wheat and meslin export made 214.8 thousand tons, down 80% year-on-year and down 58.2% month-on-month. In terms of value, it dropped by 80% year-on-year and by 58.2% month-on-month to make $45.7 mn.

    Wheat import in June made 9.8 thousand tons, down 15.5% year-on-year and down 3.9% month-on-month. Value-wise, wheat import increased by 21.4% year-on-year and by 6.3% month-on-month up to $3.4 bn

    Corn import surged 12.5-fold year-on-year, but declined by 62.1% month-on-month making 2.5 thousand tons. In terms of value, it was up 2-fold year-on-year and decreased by 66.7% month-on-month to make $0.4 mn.

    Barley import made 600 tons surging 6-fold year-on-year and declining 25% month-on-month, worth $100 thousand, level with the previous month’s result.
