During January-June 2020, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was down 3.9% year-on-year to 3.59 bn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, which was down 2% year-on-year to more than 2.4 bn tons.
Rail cargo transportation declined by 6% year-on-year down to 605.6 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was down 9.6% year-on-year to 533.3 mn tons.
Sea freight increased by 9.3% year-on-year up to 10.7 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume decreased by 1.9% year-on-year down to 36.1 mn tons.
Air freight amounted to 0.51 mn tons, up 0.7% year-on-year.
In June cargo transportation volume declined month-on-month by almost all of the transport modes, the only exceptions being inland shipping and road segments.
