New Terminal and Second Floating Power Station for Chukotka

  • A new terminal and a floating power station are to be built to supply the Baimsky GOK mining construction project on the Chukotka Peninsula in the Russian East Arctic.

    Yesterday, RF Premier Mikhail Mishustin was demonstrated the investment project aimed at developing Baimsky GOK mining plant that will have a capacity of 70 mn tons of ore per annum. The construction is to be complete by 2026.

    To support the project, a cargo terminal and a LNG power station are to be built on Cape Nagleinyn, and a 430-kilometer road connecting the plant and the terminal.

    The terminal is to be built by 2025. The power station will be a floating type, its capacity will make 356 MWt.

    The Baimsky ore zone has large deposits of copper as well as other metals including gold, silver, and molybdenum. It is expected to give an impulse to the development of the region.
