Design and Estimate Documentation for New LNG Terminal Basin Approved

  • The Main Department of State Expertise of Russia has approved of the design and estimate documentation for the basin of the new LNG terminal to be built in the framework of the Ob LNG project in the Arctic port of Sabetta.

    Novatek commenced working on the Ob LNG project in 2019. The liquefaction plant will have a capacity of 5 mn tons of LNG and 0.3 mn tons of stable condensed gas per annum.

    The plant will have two strings, 2.5 mn tons of annual capacity each. The first stage is to be launched in late 2022 – early 2023, and the second one 6-9 months later.

    The plant will source gas from the Verkhnetiuteiskoe and Zapadno-Seyakhinskoe gas fields in Northwest Yamal.

    The terminal basin development will involve dredging more than 763,000 cbm.
