Freight One, PEC and Uralvagonzavod have made the first contrailer shipment using the new 13-5205 universal rail platform. In October this year, a standard Euro truck was carried from Moscow to Novosibirsk and to test the technology.
After that, a truck with a semi-trailer were dispatched to fully test the contrailer platform. Commercially, the format will be different, the trailer will be delivered to rail by truck and only the trailer will be carried by rail. At the destination, another truck will take it to the final consumer.
According to Freight One, this will allow of reducing load on the road network and greenhouse gas emissions.
