Foreign trade turnover via the Baltic Customs made $24.7 mn during January-Septemberugust of 2019.
The number of cargo declarations issued made 250 thousand including 226 thousand of import declarations and some 24 thousand of export declarations.
In terms of tonnage, circa 11.7 mn tons of cargo was declared via the Baltic Customs, up 2% year-on-year. Import traffic increased by 2% up to some 7.9 mn tons, and export by 2.2% up to 3.8 mn tons.
A significant share in the import volume is fruit accounting for 24.3%. Other top import commodities are polymer materials, organic chemicals, ferrous metals and equipment.
The top export commodities are ferrous metals (36%), timber and woodwork, paper and board, pulp, and inorganic chemical products.
The major countries of origin for import cargo in the Baltic Customs region in January-September 2019 were China, Ecuador, Germany, South Korea and India.
The top countries of destination for export via the Baltic Customs were Turkey (its share made 26%), China and Egypt.
