According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-May 2019 Russia imported 24.8 mn pairs of leather footwear, up 2.1% year-on-year. In terms of value, leather footwear import declined by 6.3% year-on-year down to $602.5 mn.
In May, leather footwear import was down 4.2% year-on-year and down 30.3% month-on-month making 2.3 mn pairs.
Clothes import into Russia in January-May increased by 1.8% up to $2.6 mn. In May, it was up 2.1% year-on-year and down 4.3% month-on-month to $452.8 mn.
Cotton fabric import during the first three months was up 24.2% year-on-year to 122.4 mn sqm worth $67.5 mn, up 1.2%.
In May, cotton fabric import increased by 36.1% year-on-year and declined by 11.4% month-on-month amounting to $22.2 mn sqm. In terms of value, it made $13.1 mn, up 5.6% year-on-year and down 6.4% month-on-month.
Cotton fabric export from Russia during January-May 2019 increased by 11.5% year-on-year up to 40.3 mn sqm worth $20.7 mn, up just 0.5%.
In May, cotton fabric export decreased by 16% year-on-year and by 36.8% month-on-month to make 6.1 mn sqm. In terms of value, it made $3.1 mn, down 16.2% year-on-year and 31.1% month-on-month.
