In May 2019, container traffic via Russia’s Southern ports declined by 3.1% year-on-year. Export was down 15.1%, cabotage dropped by 94.4%, and transit by 72.3%. Import, on the contrary, grew by 8.3%.
Novorossiysk
Novorossiysk handled 98% of the entire Russia’s Southern ports’ container throughput in May. Compared to May 2018, the total volume decreased by 5.7%. Export was down 15.6%, and transit plummeted by 72.3%. Import was up 7.5% year-on-year.

Azov
Container traffic via Azov dropped by 43.9% year-on-year. Export was down 50.3%, and import down 37.6%.

Kavkaz
Container traffic via Port Kavkaz declined by 24.7% year-on-year in May. Import surged 2.1-fold, and export grew by 33.3%, while cabotage decreased by 8.5%.

Sevastopol
Container throughput via Sevastopol decreased by 28.1% year-on-year. Cabotage was non-existent. Import made 331 TEU, and export was 181 TEU, while last year all of the port’s container traffic was cabotage.

Astrakhan
The aggregate container throughput via Astrakhan and Olya doubled. Export grew 2.8-fold, and import 2.4—fold, while cabotage declined by 5.7%.
