According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, during the first quarter of 2019 Russia’s export of sawn goods made over 4.4 mn cbm, up 9.8% year-on-year. In terms of value, sawn goods export grew 5.4% making $1.028 bn.
In March, sawn goods export exceeded 1.7 mn cbm, up 7.4% year-on-year and 26.3% month-on-month worth $387 mn, up 0.4% year-on-year and 19.7% month-on-month.
Logs export declined during January-March by 14.5% year-on-year down to 3.8 mn cbm worth $288.9 mn, down 27.7% year-on-year.
In March, logs export made 1.4 thousand cbm, down 9.9% year-on-year and 0.5% month-on-month. In terms of value, it decreased 32.5% year-on-year, but grew 0.9% month-on-month amounting to $105.2 mn.
Plywood export in January-March increased 0.9% year-on-year up to 660 thousand cbm worth some $300.4 mn, down 8.1%.
In March, plywood export made some 236.7 thousand cbm, down 5% year-on-year and up 10.3% month-on-month. In terms of value, it declined 17.2% year-on-year and grew 5.6% month-on-month to make $104.5 mn.
Wood pulp export in January-March was up 3.1% year-on-year to 522.6 thousand tons worth $294.2 mn, down 15.6%.
In March, it made 179.8 thousand tons, down 1.2% year-on-year and up 8.7% month-on-month. In terms of value, it declined both year-on-year (-25.9%) and month-on-month (-4.7%) down to $97.7 mn.
Newsprint export in January-March grew by 20.1% year-on-year up to 302.5 thousand tons worth $155.6 mn, up 29.9%.
In March, newsprint export decreased by 1.8% year-on-year and by 16.2% month-on-month down to 91.4 thousand tons in terms of tonnage. In terms of value, it was down 0.9% year-on-year and 20.6% month-on-month to $44.7 mn.
