During January-October 2018, the sea ports of Ukraine handled slightly 683.8 thousand TEU.
It is 42.5% above the result for the same period of 2017 and exceeds the container throughput via Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, which handled 615.6 thousand TEU (+5% year-on-year).
It is worth noting that in 2017, the Sea Ports Administration did not include the container throughput of Ilyichevsk Sea Fishing Port in the statistics of Chernomorsk.
According to SeaNews’ data, Ilyichevsk Sea Fishing Port handled 92.7 thousand TEU in January-October this year, up 10.1% compared to the same period of 2017.
Export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 321.3 thousand TEU, up 57.7% year-on-year. Import grew 35.9% up to 335.7 thousand TEU.
Transit declined 2.3% down to 26.9 thousand TEU. Cabotage was non-existent, while in January-October 207 it made some 1.8 thousand TEU.
Odessa handled 486.8 thousand TEU during January-October 2018, up 15.2% year-on-year.
Yuzhny surged 64.9% up to 94.9 thousand TEU.
Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 102.1 thousand TEU compared to just 14 TEU in January-October 2017.
Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) handled 325 TEU increasing its last year’s January-October result 7.6-fold.
