Grain Export Surges 70%

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, in January-May 2018 Russia exported some 17.1 mn tons of wheat and meslin, up 69.7% year-on-year.

    In terms of value, grain export surged 71.9% up to $3.1 bn.

    In May this year Russia exported 4.1 mn tons of wheat and meslin, up 22.6% compared to April this year.

    Wheat import into Russia during the 5 months of 2018 grew 53.4% amounting to 157.8 thousand tons.

    In terms of value, wheat import was up 36.1% up to $22.6 mn.

    Barley import dropped 91.2% down to 6.4 thousand tons, corn import declined 8.2% down to 33.2 thousand tons.

    In terms of value, barley import was down 92.9% to $1.1 mn, and corn import down 8% to $124.6 mn.
