According to the RF Customs Service, in 2017 logs export from Russia amounted to slightly over 19.4 mn cbm, down 3.1% year-on-year. In terms of value, however, logs export increased 8.6% up to $1.5 bn.
Sawn goods export grew 10.9% to over 18 mn tons in terms of tonnage and 24.9% in terms of value to $3.9 bn.
Plywood export made over 2.5 mn cbm, just 0.5% above the 2016 level. In terms of value plywood export increased 16.6% to $1.5 bn.
Wood pulp export declined 1.6% to 2.11 mn tons. In terms of value, on the contrary, it grew 10.6% to $1.1 bn.
Newsprint export amounted to some 1.13 mn tons, up 5.9% year-on-year. In terms of value newsprint export increased 9.4% to $468.2 mn.
