Baltic and NW Europe Freight Market, Week 4, 2018

  • During week 4, freight rates for shipping cargo by both coasters and Handysize bulkers in the Baltic and the NW European region did not change much compared to the previous week’s level.

    According to Glogos Project, freight rates for shipping wheat by Handysize bulkers on the ARAG – East Med route made $30 per ton, and to West Med $23 per ton.

    Freight rates for wheat from the Baltic to North Spain were $20 per ton.

    Freight rates for shipping coal by Handysize bulkers from the Baltic to North Spain remained $21 per ton for 15,000 dwt ships and $19 tons per ton for 25,000 dwt ships.

    Freight rates for shipping scrap from the Baltic to East Med grew making $39 per ton and to West Med were up to $33 per ton.

    On the ARAG – East Med route freight rates for scrap did not change and made $33 per ton. Freight rates from the Baltic to East Med for 15,000 dwt ships were $42 per ton.

    Freight rates for shipping various cargo by coasters did not change.
