Russian export of sawn timber is reaching the level of logs export volume.
According to the Federal Customs Service, Russian export of logs in January-October 2017 amounted to 15.9 mn cubic meters, 4.2% less compared to the same period in 2016. At the same time, in terms of money, logs export grew by 8.2% to $1.19 bn.
During the period under report, sawn timber export grew by 12.1% year-on-year, its volume reached 15.2 mn tons. In terms of money exports of processed timber also increased by 2.5% compared to January-October last year and amounted to $3.3 bn.
Plywood export amounted to 2.07 mn cubic meters, which is 0.2% less than in 2016. In terms of money, plywood export increased by 15.9% to $914.5 mn.
The export of Russian wood pulp during the 10 months of 2017 decreased by 0.6% and amounted to 1.7 mn tons. In terms of money, the export of wood pulp, on the contrary, increased by 6.9% to $862.1 mn.
Newsprint export was up 4.7% year-on year to 933.9 thousand tons. Also in terms of money, the export of newsprint increased by 7.9%, amounted to $385.2 mn.
