Today Yamal LNG plant commenced production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the first LNG train. The capacity of the first LNG train is 5.5 million tonnes of LNG per year. The first cargo loading is scheduled on Friday, 8 December 2017.
According to Novatek, the loading will be carried out at the Sabetta port on the LNG tanker “Christophe de Margerie”. Let us recall, that this is the first in the world Arc7 ice-class LNG tanker. In total, three liquefaction trains with total capacity of 16.5 million tons per year will operate on the Yamal LNG plant. It is worth noticing that all the gas of Yamal LNG has already been contracted. The plant will work on the resource base of the South Tambey field.
Yamal LNG shareholders are: NOVATEK (50.1%), Total (20%), CNPC (20%), and Silk Road Fund (9.9%). The plant is expected to reach its full capacity in 2019.
