During January 2022, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was up 2,5% year-on-year to 557.5 mn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, up 2.6% year-on-year to 342.7 mn tons.
Rail freight grew by 3% year-on-year up to 104.2 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was down 0.7% year-on-year to 104.3 mn tons. Gas pipeline transportation declined by 9.5% down to 54.1 mn tons. The volume of crude oil pipeline transportation increased by 10.7% to 46.1 mn tons and that of product pipeline transportation by 13% to 4.1 mn tons.
Sea freight grew by 17% year-on-year up to 1.72 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume surged 2-fold year-on-year up to 4.43 mn tons.
Air transport carried 113 thousand tons, up 13% year-on-year.
In January 2022, cargo transportation volume declined month-on-month by almost all of the transport modes, the only exception being inland shipping.
