Foreign trade turnover via the Baltic Customs made some $7.8 mn during Q1 2018, up 18.6% year-on-year.
The number of cargo declarations issued grew 10.1% up to 78.2 thousand, including 71.7 thousand of import declarations and 6.4 thousand of export declarations.
In terms of tonnage, 3.3 mn tons of cargo was declared via the Baltic Customs, up 10.1% year-on-year. Import traffic increased 1.5% up to some 2.4 mn tons, while export surged 41.4% up to 916.2 mn tons.
A significant share in the import volume is fruit (27.53%). Other top import positions are polymer materials, organic chemicals, equipment and ferrous metals.
The top export commodities are ferrous metals (33.38%), timber and woodwork, paper and board, fertilizers and inorganic chemicals.
Major importing countries in the Baltic Customs region in January-March were China, Ecuador, Morocco, Germany and South Korea.
The top countries of destination were Turkey (24.44%), China and India.
