Russia-EU Trade Turnover in January-August 2023 Down 67% YoY

  • In January-August 2023, the trade turnover between Russia and the countries of the European Union dropped 67.4% year-on-year down to 62.5 bn euro.

    According to Eurostat, while exports from EU countries into Russia were down 30% during the period under report to 26.4 bn euro, import from Russia to the European Union declined by 76.6% down to 36.1 bn euro.

    In August 2023, exports from EU countries into Russia were down 23.7% year-on-year and down 3.3% month-on-month to 2.9 bn euro.

    Import from Russia to the European Union dropped by 77.8% year-on-year and level with the previous month amounting to 3.4 bn euro in August 2023.

    In January-August 2023, Russia continued to rate the tenth largest importer from the EU. Among the largest exporters to the EU countries, Russia also occupies the tenth position.
