Japanese Delegation in Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port

  • A delegation of the Japan Association for Trade with Russia & NIS (ROTOBO) has visited Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port, the port said in a statement.

    The main aim of the visit was to study the current condition and prospects for trade between Japan and the Russian Far East under the changing geopolitical situation.

    The Japanese delegation was demonstrated the port facilities and informed about the investment programme aimed at developing the port.

    The ports in the Russian Far East are gateways that can be used to deliver different cargoes to Japan, the press office of the port quotes Saito Daisuke, Director of the Research Institute of the Economy of Russia and the CIS as saying.

    He also expressed his hope for the expansion of cooperation and put special emphasis on the importance of maintaining contacts between the two countries.

    The parties discussed export and import related issues and expressed their interest in expanding cooperation in handling fish and seafood.

    In August 2023, Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port handled 43,900 tons of fish, an absolute record since the start of operations and 4% above the previous record set in August 2018.
