Bamstroymekhanisatsiya, part of 1520 Group, has completed track laying in the new Kerak Tunnel on the Transbaikal Railway. In a month and a half, the builders laid more than 1800 meters of rail and ties, 1520 Group reports.
The builders applied an innovative technology that reduces the dynamic impact of trains on the vaults of the artificial structure. The rails are mounted on a structure made of a concrete half-track, a rubber cover and a vibration-absorbing pad. This system not only increases the service life of the tunnel, but also ensures smooth and quiet running due to vibration and noise absorbing pads. Tunnel maintenance is also simplified, and long intervals are no longer required for track repairs.
The contact network inside the tunnel and on the approaches to it is completely ready, the installation of signaling and communication systems is finished.
Now the builders are tiling the tunnel portals and completing the construction of buildings and structures for the operating personnel.
The new Kerak Tunnel is scheduled to be opened for traffic in December 2023. After that, the reconstruction of the old tunnel, which runs next to it, is to begin. It will be used as an auxiliary structure to serve the newly constructed tunnel.
