Keels for Two More Drycargo/Container Vessels Laid in Astrakhan

  • Lotos Yard, part of United Shipbuilding Corporation’s Southern Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Center, has laid the keels for two Design 00108 container ships, USC said in a statement.

    A contract for building a series of four vessels was signed with State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK). GTLK acts as the customer of the series. The keel for the lead ship of the series was laid in May

    Design 00108 was developed by Nizhny Novgorod based Vympel construction bureau. It is the first Russian design of a universal dry bulk / container vessel to transport ISO containers including reefer units. The container capacity of the vessels is 531 TEU including 72 reefer units. General cargo and solid bulk wil be

    The vessel has the same dimensions as the Volgo-Don max class bulkers and can be deployed in sea areas and in Russia’s inland waterways.

    Vessel particulars:

    • LOA: 141 m,
    • Beam: 16.9 m,
    • Height: 6.3 m,
    • Cargo holds capacity: 12,000 cub meters.
    • Deadweight at sea: 9,200 tons (draft: 5.3 m)’
    • Draft in river 5,000 tons (draft: 3.6 m),
    • Speed: 10 knots.
